You have heard about “Biodegradable plastic made of coffee” but are still vague and don’t have much information about this material. Let’s find out with Biopolymer Vietnam in the article below.
Around the world, technology to produce environmentally friendly biological products has become a trend. There are many businesses that have brought the brand of green products to the market, however, the premise for the creation of these products is raw materials – which not all businesses can independently produce.
Currently, there are not many units that own the patents for biodegradable materials in the Vietnamese market. Biopolymer Vietnam is one of the few enterprises in the world that owns a patent for biological materials from coffee, specifically the biodegradable plastic made of coffee.
Besides big brands such as: Phu My Plastic, Aneco, BioStarch… Biopolymer Vietnam both provides environmentally friendly products and supplies biodegradable plastic made of coffee material to partners.
The raw materials used in the production of the products must be fully biodegradable and certified by the highest standards of international organizations. These materials also need to be certified for food safety by Food Contact Materials (FCMs) if it is used to manufacture products that come into contact with food such as cups, knives, spoons, forks, etc.
1. Development base of biodegradable plastic made of coffee
Between the serious white pollution and the advantage of abundant coffee raw materials of Vietnam, Biopolymer Vietnam wishes to research the pioneering source of biological materials to contribute to solve the problem of waste and climate change caused by coffee waste.
Researched by a team of experienced engineers for more than 10 years, Vietnamese biodegradable plastic made of coffee is confident to be the most unique and optimal source of materials, capable of completely replacing traditional PP/PE which promises to bring a new transformation to Vietnam’s plastic industry.
2. Composition of biodegradable plastic made of coffee
Our coffee bioplastic is a combination of a renewable source which is about 60% coffee grounds and 40% primary PP/PE.
The product helps to reduce dependence on fossil fuels (petroleum…), limit environmental pollution, be biodegradable and safe for consumers’ health.
3. Lifecycle of biodegradable plastic made of coffee
Biodegradable plastic made of coffee is created by the process of granulating technology from primary materials such as coffee grounds and mixed with PP/PE. These primary materials are required to be biodegradable and certified for biodegradability.
After completing, this material will continue to be technologically applied to create applied products.
Products made from biodegradable plastic made of coffee material, after being buried or burned, will decompose into biomass, water, CO2 or CH4 which can help plants develop and grow, instead of decomposing into microplastics and polluting the environment.
After that, the plants will continue to provide natural materials for the production of coffee bioplastics. Thus, the life cycle of coffee bioplastic material continues to rotate, forming an optimal cyclic process, contributing to positive effects on the environment.
4. The production process
The production process of biodegradable plastic made of coffee materials will be precisely dosed according to the product formula, and must be put into the extruder in the correct ordinal. Equipment parameters such as motor current, temperature, pressure, humidity, etc. are rigidly monitored.
Biodegradable plastic made of coffee is currently being produced in Vietnam under a strictly controlled process. Biopolymer Vietnam hopes that this material will contribute to the progress of repelling environmental pollution and creating green products for the community.
